How to Bid

Bidding with Hallmark Auctions is easy and convenient.

We offer many ways of traditional and online bidding methods. Please call or email if you have any questions or need help with the bidding process.

All items purchased are subject to a Low  buyers premium of 18%  (by industry standards) in addition to the hammer price. Buyers bidding online are subject to an additional 5% buyers premium. Please be sure to ask for condition reports if there are any questions about the items you will be bidding on or come to the preview the week before the auction if possible.

Absentee Bidding

Absentee bidding allows you to participate in the auction even if you cannot attend. The day of the sale Hallmark auctions will bid as a proxy on your behalf as long as there is a competing bid up to the amount specified on the form you fill out before the auction. You can download a printable PDF version of our standard bid form and email it to us or call us and we will take your absentee bids over the phone.

By Phone

If you are unable to attend the auction, phone bidding allows you to bid in real-time as if you were in the auction room. If you choose this method please call or email and we will take your information and call you the day of the auction 3-5 lots before the item you are interested in comes up for auction.

Our catalog is posted to Invaluable,  Live Auctioneers and our website. These platforms allow you to bid live online during the sale, or leave absentee bids at any time. Just click on the site to register to bid.


Registration is free and open to the public and can be done before or on the day of the auction. Photo Identification is required. Auctions take place at our location at 7915 Big Bend Blvd St. Louis, MO 63119. The auction starts at 10:00 and viewing is available from 9:00-10:00 the day of the auction. Auctions are usually on Saturdays. Public viewing of the lots is available the week before the auction Monday-Friday 9:00-5:00

Payment must be made within (5) business days of the auction. Hallmark Auctions accepts Cash, Credit Cards, Wire Transfers and Checks for payment. We can also accept other forms of payment such as Paypal, Venmo and Cash App under $1,000. For payments by credit card, a signed Credit Card Authorization Form along with a photo ID must be provided. Credit card payments may not be accepted on all items. Any purchases over $5,000 must be submitted by wire transfer/ACH. Be sure to contact our office for wiring instructions.

Note: We DO NOT charge an Extra Fee for Credit Card purchases.

If you are exempt from sales tax, you must hold a current resale certificate and we must have a copy on file. Please use the Missouri Form 149 and submit it to: [email protected]

If payment is not made within (8) business days, Hallmark Auctions reserves the right to charge a credit card on file or exercise any of the options listed within our Terms & Conditions of Sale.

Pick Up

All invoices must be paid in full before items will be released for pick up or shipping.

All items must be picked up or shipped within (10) days following an auction per our Terms & Conditions of Sale.

Contact us to schedule an appointment for pick up. Our hours for pick up are Monday-Friday 9:30-4:30.

Items may be picked up at our St. Louis office located at 7915 Big Bend Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63119.


Shipping arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer but Hallmark Auctions in-house shipping services are subject to specific items so please contact us at [email protected] for more information.

We will ship jewelry and watches if requested by the buyer. In-house shipping charges include the actual cost of shipping, materials, handling charges and insurance costs – all of these items are incorporated into the shipping cost on your invoice. USPS or UPS will be used at our discretion based on insurance costs.

All items are required to be picked up or shipped within 10 days of the sale.

In addition to the list of third-party shippers provided below, Hallmark provides buyers with the option of in-house shipping and local delivery for select items. All items must be paid in full before they will be released for shipment or pickup.

If shipping arrangements have not been made or communicated within 15 days, Hallmark Auctions reserves the right, at this time to charge a storage fee of $5 per lot per day. And within forty-five (45) days, we reserve the right to sell any items left on the premises.
